Mayo was on the brink of taking down Pete’s mother, but ended up pouncing on Pete, 28, instead.

As Mayo ran into the party, preparing to tackle Pete’s mother, the SNL star stops the football vet and informs him his mother has already been doing her part to stop the issue.

‘Mom’s already tackling food waste, Mayo,’ Pete tells the football player.

As Mayo walks away, Pete says in a hushed voice to his mother, ‘Big guy,’ before flexing his muscles.

Less than a second later, Mayo returns and slams Pete to the floor.

‘Sorry man, had to,’ Mayo tells Pete.

‘I get it, I’m very hittable,’ Pete said before briefly groaning.

Pete’s mother was spared from a tackle but not every one was so lucky in the ad.

Mayo took down a man preparing to throw out his bread, a woman on crutches about to toss out her food, and an elderly woman going through her fridge.

Speaking on PEOPLE (The TV Show!), Pete said he ‘couldn’t believe’ he got to take part in the new Super Bowl ad.

‘It was the coolest, I can’t believe that I got to be in it,’ he said. ‘Hellman’s whole thing is, “We’re encouraging people to not waste food at home and use it in other aspects.” And we don’t [waste food] at the Davidson household, you’ll see.’

This year, Davidson plans on watching the Super Bowl with a group of ‘close friends’ after being unable to do so last year.

‘We’re going to do a close friends, just hang out, watch the Super Bowl situation,’ he told the publication. ‘We didn’t really do that last year, it was kind of a weird time. So, I’m really looking forward to being able to hang and just watch.’

There was no mention of whether or not his plans included girlfriend Kim Kardashian.

Davidson also said he was rooting for the Cincinnati Bengals, but would be happy if their opponent, the Los Angeles Rams, won.

‘I really want the Bengals to win because I love underdogs, so I’m pumped,’ he said.

‘Stafford’s a stud and he’s been forever. And it would be nice for him to win as well. So either way, it’s a nice Super Bowl,’ Pete said of Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Super Bowl LVI will see the Cincinnati Bengals and LA Rams battle it out at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on Sunday, February 13.
